Is it specifically an EZDrummer issue? If so here are their forums: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/

Assuming it doesn't work from default you can set it up in the step sequencer by the name typing method, save that as a Step Sequencer clip, albeit an empty one and call it up every time you open the step sequencer. It's like a less powerful version of a drum map

Or you could set it up via a drum map, then use that every time you use it.

That'll work but then you may come across a few niggly bugs that involve the step sequencer and drum map combo. Nothing show stopping mind.

Hang on lads, he said "hopefully someone cant help!!"

    And you lot are helping!!

Back to being serious - FBB's Drum  Map suggestion is the one I'd explore. They're a bit fiddly to set up, but once you've completed one, you can use it again & again.

He he 10Ten was a lot of fun - NOT!

Anyway, I second the drum maps. But I wonder what the bugs with them are? Crashes? I never really use them but see why it's a good idea. I remember using them with Battery 3 in Sonar... something, and it either crashed or they reset or something. So just curious what the bugs are these days. I might explore them again as I really wouldn't mind the comfort of them

I've downloaded the available drum maps from the EZ Drummer website and couldn't get them to work in Sonar. After 2 days of screwing around with them , said the heck with it.

Any specific problems? Drum maps are fairly easy to work with once you've got your head round how they work.

Assign an In note to an out note and then assign that to the MIDI port of the drum you wish to use. Do that for as many drum sounds as you want on various Drum synths and save the whole lot as a map. that's it really.

Thanks FBB. That def simplified it for me. I thought dropping the EZ drum map file into the folder for drum maps would just make it show up when wanted to choose that from PRV.

No it's not that simple unfortunately, the drum map feature is definitely a little..... er.....antiquated to say the least and could do with a little updating. Having said that once they are setup that's it really they are there when you need them. I think it must be at least 18 months since I last edited a drum map, but I do use them all the time.

Unfortunately there are 2 or 3 bugs with them in X1c although that is mainly when used in conjunction with the step sequencer. The one you are most likeliest to run in to is when a drum map is assigned as an output the PRV 'snap to' for that track will only follow the global snap and not the local PRV one.

I work round that by re-assigning the output MIDI port to one of my drum machines and then changing it back when I'm finished. Not exactly a show stopper but a pain all the same.

Mainly step sequencer related - here's the ones I've reported.........

5786 - Cannot use separate snap to settings in PRV if output is a drum map
5787 - Step Sequencer is blank when double clicking on a clip assigned to a drum map

There's another couple in the Step Sequencer that are consistent whether the output is a drum map or not.

One tip I picked up from Seth is that you can use the step sequencer as a sort of limited drum map if needed. You can't change in & out note routing but you can control the output port for each drum sound. Save it as a SS file and you can then recall it in other projects.

    A-ha! Gotcha!

And in particular I understand what you mean about" no show stopper" - I will experiment tonight

You know FBB, you could really give Mr. Garrigus a run for his money man, you're like a friggin' wizard with this software! And you include the workarounds

    Thanks, appreciate it

Thanks for the props but I don't think I'm in the same league as Mr. Garrigus......... I've learnt plenty from him and others on this good forum, I give back where I can. This really is a great learning place despite all the bickering.

Software bugs are an attitude. The way I see it when I find a bug I can do one of two things, I can come on here and throw my teddies out the cot, or find a workround, post it up on here and get on making music.........

There's several of the former already so I do the latter.
