Is there any shortcut to add an audio fx to multiple tracks in 1 clik???

lets say i have 10 tracks, and i wanna add some waves NSL on all 10 tracks, do i have to do it 1 by 1 or is there a way to do it faster???

thanx!

Add to one track; clone track 9 times.

If you want to process the tracks the same (i.e. add reverb):

1) select the tracks you want
2) hold down ctrl
3) right click on one of the selected tracks
4) in the context menu select "Insert Send"->"Insert Send Assistant"
5) Click the "New Bus"
6) Set the output to your master bus
7) Set the bus name
8) Click "Choose Effect", for each effect you want to add
9) set the checkboxes to taste
10) Click Ok

If you want to process each track separately, you will need to add the effects to each track individually.

Add to one and drag to the others?  Less plug-in folder navigation.

You can do this with the ProChannel modules, and it's another reason why I like to use the ProChannel whenever possible.

Hold down Ctrl and right-click in the ProChannel. Choose the module to insert and it will insert on all of the ProChannels. You can also control all identical controls in the ProChannel modules by holding down Ctrl while you adjust a control. You

I use both of these techniques all the time with the Console Emulator.

You can also do this with only selected channels if ctrl-click first to select them.

damn... i kinda need to upgrade from studio to producer to get the console emulator...

kinda expensive considering i'm a bedroom producer and i already have waves NSL...

guess i'll just do it manually,

still,

thanx a lot to all for your help! Sonar is super deep, so we kinda need each other to figure all the good stuff!

It's not just the console emulator, this technique works with any ProChannel modules.

For that I would use a buss. Route all the channels to that buss and use the FX you want there. It will effect all those tracks.

that pluggin is particular in the way at it is non-linear... it is a bit complicated to explain (and english is not my 1st language) but the point is to use multiple instances that add harmonic content, and them sum it up in a bus...

but i really have to use 1 instance/track...

Jeez, you're just not liking any of the answers eh?

Well, to future-proof yourself you should make a track template with this stuff added so you never have to have this problem again. Boom!

as for the current project, if none of the other solutions are gonna work, just drop it in on one track, then CTRL-drag it to the others to copy it in. It's a manual process, but if the tracks are all grouped near each other and you have them expanded just enough to see their FX Bins you can blast this out in about a minute or so.

So it is a few years later so is this option available. So lets say I want to...e.g.  add VU meter to 12 tracks at once? (Not a Sonar effect)

Thanks

Yes I tried this and it does not work. I tried this by using the insert audio FX "+" sign on the first track and even trying to drag it onto the 1st track from the Plug-In folder. I am trying to add LP-64 EQ and it does not work. Is there an on off setting for this?

I wouldn't use that EQ on so many tracks. It may seem like a good idea Linear phase and all but you don't need to use it that way. You only need it for mastering and not as much as people think. Its a special type EQ. One in which a problem with not using it will cause sound that is not wanted i.e artifacts. For the vast majority of eq QC is plenty good enough.

This feature (adding effects to multiple tracks at once) was added to the August 2016 early release program for Sonar.  To quote one of the features added in this early release:

"Quick Group Insert FX. You can now insert the same plug-in across tracks using quick group and right-clicking a FX Bin."

The exact version where this feature was added is "Version 22.8.0.BUILD 18"

OK thanks for the tip John but I still can't use the control key to add any FX in multiple.

I'm not sure what you might be doing. but I just tested this again 2 minutes ago and it worked fine.

1- Select the tracks you want to add the multiple FX. (drag and select or hold down CTRL as you select)
2- Hold down CTRL key
3- Click the + button in the FX bin
4- Select the FX you want (while still holding down CTRL)
5- Sonar inserts multiple FX in the Tracks you had selected.

(as some users have stated above) is it possible you have not updated to the early release yet ?

The ability to add FX to several tracks at once is a positive step in the right direction, however it would be great if those effects can be remove with one click as well. I just tried the early access 2016.8.  holding CTRL and adding the same effects over multiple tracks to the fx bin was a breeze, however removing them has to be one by one I don't know if this can be addressed in a future update to improve efficiency.

Case in point:

If I select 8 tracks and hold control and add sonitus reverb to the FX bin of those tracks everything goes as describe, for whatever reason suppose I made a mistake adding sonitus reverb instead of breverb I now have to remove all those sonitus reverb independently one by one or if I wanted to add a different reverb over those 8 tracks because of a change 0f heart the opposite is a bit tedious.

good idea gleville. it would be cool to switch out multiple effects too by drag dropping the new effect over the old effect in fx bin, with ctrl depressed

Re: how can I add audio fx to multiple tracks at the same time??? 2016/08/14 22:07:11 (permalink)

You don't have to remove them individually. Just press CTRL-Z to undo the insert multiple.
