how do I access amplitude guitar amp simulator

i have watched 4 hours of tutorials and they have been helpful. I still dont know how to open xgear or amplitube for recording guitar tracks on x1.. also on a side note having a  little trouble understanding how to open and create drums with session drummer 2. I only have x1 essentials. any feedback would be great...thanks

Assuming you have amplitube VST scanned into Sonar, you add it to an audio track as an effect in the Fx bin. Turn on Echo Input on the track. Doubleclick the VST to bring up the properties page so you can select the preset you want. The same works with any VST effect. Keep your volume low when you start because the sound may be very loud.

I have the same problem, but I didn't understand how to do it. I made a new audio track, enabled the input echo, but then I didn't understand the "double-click VST" thingy.

    Would appreciate some help :)

I guess I can ask you too dave, since you're online. So where is the so-called "VST" I should double-click?

That's the plug-in. Usually the properties page (which is the panel where you can adjust the setting or select presets for the plug-in) pops up automatically, but if it doesn't, you can doubleclick on the name in the Fx bin and it will bring up the properties page. Sorry if that wasn't too clear.

I only see one Fx bin, and it's nothing there

The problem might be that I haven't like scanned it into the X1 essential. Well, that's anothere issue. How do I do that? I've recieved an email containing the serial number, but I am not sure if I did that in the installation

Sorry for bothering you with such questions, which I believe is piece of cake to fix, but I am a complete beginner at this..

You missed the step where dave said you 'add an effect to the bin'.

You can right-click in the bin. You can access it from a menu. You can also get this information from the help files and or manual if they included a PDF manual with X1. It really is worth wrapping your head around by reading the manual.

X1 should be default scan for VSTs at startup for you. You just need to add it to the bin. THEN you can double click it to open the effect once its in the bin.
