I would archive it with something like WinRAR into 100mb chunks and than burn as many chunks per disc as possible.
If you ever need it again, copy the chunks off your discs, unarchive it and you have your original files.

Couldn't you just "re-download it" from the Cake site? It should be in your downloads section on their site.

Drag and drop into your burning app.
I use Nero Burning ROM as my burning app.

If the files came down as several different ones, just burn them to a DVD of they will fit. A double layer DVD holds twice as much as a normal disk.

You can also save them to A USB stick that has sufficient capacity... If all else fails... I don't know how big X1 is.... you can make a folder on a spare USB drive and put it all in there.

I save ALL my down loads into several locations..... into a folder on the hard drive, a backup in a USB drive and also burned to disk.

if the download link is still available then you should be able to download it.  I'm not sure who would say it costs extra to download again, but that's not my experience.

I downloaded X1 SEVEN times!!! (I was having problems!)

I'd backup the Sonar installer to external HD.
The cost is getting cheap... and it's quick/easy.

If you don't already have one, consider getting a USB/eSATA docking station (for SATA HDs).
These are relatively inexpensive, offer great performance (via eSATA), and they'll let you treat HDs like RAM cards.  You can get a docking station and a fast 1TB HD for ~$100.

    I did two things:

1.) I backed up the ginormous files I got from teh site to an external hard drive

2.) I burned the extracted folders to DVDs, which effectively creates install DVDs.  Each extracted folder fits on a single-layer (4.7GB) DVD with room to spare, except for the program install disc (Used a dual-layer disc on that one).  In fact, I got the "readme" stuff on the install disc for the actual program (using the dual-layer disc).

Cos I gotta tell you, downloading once was tough - you can only download 4 files at a time, so you have to wait for others to finish, which means you can't start them all and go to bed.  Downloading a second time was also tough when I had to reinstall Windows - I downloaded enough while I was awake that I could finish up after I went to bed, and for some reason all 4 of those files failed to complete overnight.  I dont' want to have to do it a third time.
