I believe you hold down cntr and select the tracks for editing , then use the split tool.. Either by pressing f8, or use the smart tool while holding down shift, or toggle T and choose the split tool...  Not a 100% sure not at my computer, But I think thats it..

Edit : when you have the sections split you can highlight the sections to be deleted , and instead of deleting them you can press K and mute that selection

Another way. Cntrl select the tracks you want to delete sections from by clicking the number of each track, not just the track header. Drag across the time line at the top of the Track View to select the area you want to delete then right click on any selected track. Click Split from the drop down menu and choose 'at selection'. Each track will be split and you can delete each part of each track. Probably other ways as well.

I think the OP means he wants to "remove" the section.

Select all the tracks, then select the TIME RANGE in the timeline.

Then do EDIT-> Delete  and make sure to check "delete hole" and "align to measure"

(That's from 8.5.x but I think it's the same in X1, and I'm not at my DAW to confirm).

.. or not check 'delete hole' if you want to just delete the events and leave a 'hole'.

Thanks very much, Kerm! I hope you enjoy the book.

Regarding your question... tip #8 on that page I mentioned earlier provides the steps you need to delete a section from an entire project.

    Hi,

I know this is an old thread but I've been hunting this down for a while.

I've got a track that has a load of rubbish at the start and so I'm wanting to delete the first x measures from all the tracks. I've followed your guide Scott but when I get to step 4 I find that the 'Delete' option is greyed out.

    Any idea why?

    Thanks in advance

If it's at the beginning of the song the fastest way is to slip edit the tracks to where you want them to start.
