how to migrate all Sonar 8.5 settings to new 64-bit PC?

I am migrating from an old 32-bit XP machine to a new 64-bit W7 machine. (I am running Sonar 32-bit on the old machine.) As part of this process, I want to initially continue running Sonar 8.5 on the new machine, but this time as a 64-bit application. On the new machine, I intend to replicate my environment from the old one as far as audio settings, path locations, etc.

Is there a way that I can "easily" migrate all of my global settings (e.g. audio settings, instrument definitions, MIDI channel names, path assignments for data types such as audio, etc.)?

Or, do I have to enter it all in manually in the new 64-bit installation of Sonar 8.5 on the new machine?

thanks

Keith

It might get messy, but you can try this:
    1. Install the older 32 bit version of Sonar on your new machine
    2. Using the Xp to Win7 Transfer cable (19 or so bux at Radio Shack), transfer your settings to your new machine.
    3. Open Sonar on the new machine to allow it to pull the info in
    4. Upgrade to your new version on the new machine.

The upgrade process should migrate all your current settings and preferences. You may have to reinstall plugins, however, as the 64 path installs plugins in different places than 32 bit does.

    Hope that helps!!

When one is doing the process of self-analysis, One should make sure that the Self that is doing the analysis is, in fact, sane.
