how to setup a patch panel
So I'm completely ready to be schooled by everyone. Here's the deal, I have effectively 16 analog inputs in my gear. I have two sets of beautiful rack space in my desk. It's time I rack my stuff up. Part of what I want to rack is the Vstudio 700. But the inputs are all in the back.
So I want to build a panel where I have 16 (maybe less) inputs mounted in my rackspace (along with the vstudio also racked) and I want to have a patch matrix setup. I've seen this in every studio with out board gear, where they use 1/8" TS arrays to route one input to another effect and so forth.
This is where I need help because my knowledge ends here.
Can you guys make any recommendations for what gear I should use for this? I actually don't "need" the TS panel, because I don't have a ton of out board gear, but I'd at least like to extend my XLRs and some of the 1/4" inputs from the back of the vstudio to the front of my rack plate - like a snake would do on a stage.
I just googled "rack mount snake" and came up with this:
This looks pretty good. Any thoughts?
And yeah I know this isn't X1 related, but I plan on using it to interface with X1 so there forum police! ;)
