how to use cakewalk studio instruments with sony acid music

Hi - I am at my wits end right now....
I guess I don't know anything about midi.

I am trying to create my own drum patterns with studio instruments and then use them in
sony acid music, can't figure it out. I tried to add a soft synth in sony and actually got the drum kit to show up, but can't figure out how to trigger it.

I have a keyboard and a midi to usb cable I would like to use to have a trigger, but sony can't find it.

I really need help..lol

Is there anyone that can give me step by step instructions on how to load plugins, use studio inst drums to record one drum at a time until i get my pattern in sony and then I know i need to link the studio inst drum sounds to the track - but how?

any help would be nice - thanks

You will have to set up ACID to use midi controllers.  I haven't used acid in ages ;-) but Vegas has midi controller page.  Try Options>preferences/midi.

AT's path is exactly right. when you click the midi tab, a list of devices should pop up. If not, you may want to check your midi interface
