how to use the finger?

hi

does anybody know how to use native instruments the finger, i have reaktor 5 which is needed to host the finger ensemble.

it's an effect plug in that uses midi to trigger various effect parameters.

i'm just not sure how to insert it and get a midi track sent to it ( no sonar insertion methods listed in manual)

any ideas please?

regards

I'm not sure why you would post this question in the Sonar forum...

I would imagine that you would get a quicker/better response over at NI.

Who knows, maybe I'm way out in left field on this one.

I couldn't figure out how to download the manual from the website. Did you try installing it as a softsynth? I think its more than that though.

the manual does not cover sonar and there isn't much on the native instruments forum regarding "the finger"

I will try inserting it as a soft synth hopefully that will let me route a midi track to it

i'm only surprised more people haven't suggested how i could use "the finger"

that's not an open invitation tho!

    Jimmy,

One example is to insert it in the FX bin of your master bus - but the way you do it is to insert the Kore(2) FX as a synth in the FX bin.

Once it's there, create a MIDI track and assign it to that synth.   You can then control it via MIDI notes/CC/etc just like any other synth.

This is one example where inserting a "synth" as an FX is handy.

One problem I found with The Finger is that it doesn't save the actual level setting, so if you reload your project, you have to open Kore(2) and set the level there or you won't hear anything on the Master Bus.

You can, of course, insert as above on any bus or track as well.

It's a very cool plugin -- I hope they fix this level bug.

You mean while driving in a car, right? Well then you would...

    1. Roll down the window.
    2. Stick your left arm out the window.
    3. Extend your middle digit.

This has been an excerpt from the upcoming Driving Power! book...

    To actually answer the question....

Route the audio to a sub... Place Reaktor in the sub's FX bin (as a soft synth)...

Add a MIDI track and route it to that instance of Reaktor.

    Tada.
