i can haz halp plz?
Soooo here's the deal.... I have Sonar 7 Producer and I was working on a song for a couple of hours. I closed it out to work on a different song for a while. When I went to open the first song again it loads to 99% then I get a fatal error message (this happens everytime I try to open it now, including when I open it in safe mode). I've cleaned and restarted my computer to no avail. This doesn't happen for any other song but this one, and until now I have never had a problem opening it. On a side note: It's a 3 minute orchestral song with about a 150 audio tracks and lots of effects added. Could the size be hindering my computer from opening it due to lack of memory? Any suggestions? I was thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling Sonar.

Have you been using 'save as'? Is there an earlier itteration that still loads? When you loaded in safe mode did you say no to all the plugins? Sounds pretty hairy to me, hope you can get it working again! Child

@daveny5: My computer is Intel Core2 Duo - E7200 (3MB L2 Cache 2.53GHZ)---320GB 7200RPM Hard drive. The song itself is 15GB. @Rothchild and DaGunz: I've loaded it in safe mode by saying no-to-all plug-ins as well as various other alterations. None of which work. @Bristol_Jonesey: nope that didn't work..... Thank you for the quick replies and eagerness to help. I appreciate it, but it's starting to look like a lost cause. Hopefully, if and when I get a better computer it'll work, otherwise I just wasted countless hours.

Are you using "per project Audio" so that all of your audio is in one folder on your HD? If so, you might start a new file with the same track layout (hopefully a template was used?!) and then Import the audio into that new project. Tedious and inelegant for sure, but it might save your work.

You must be saving it as a bundle (CWB) file which has all the audio tracks embedded. That's too unreliable a method. Use Per Project folders and when you work with the file, save as a project (CWP). It will open and close a lot quicker. When you backup, just backup the project folder.

@bmdaustin: Tedious and inelegant is far better than nonexistent, so I'll give that a shot. Thanks. @daveny5: Yeah it's a (CWB) file. When I started using Sonar it's how I did it, and I never bothered looking into other ways or changing current ways because it's never been a problem before. After this fiasco though, I'll defiantly be reformatting the way I do things. Thanks for the advice.

sorry i meant that as the total size of the song, including audio. I'm not by my computer but if i recall it's something like 3.3 MB for the (.cwp) file and the rest of the 15GB is audio. I don't know if the audio size matters with loading the song in Sonar, but i just assumed so.

Sounds like you maxed something out.

@norrie: Somebody beat you to the punch. I'm taking it to my friends tomorrow to get it hashed out. Thanks for the very chivalrous offer though. @old_goat: Yeah I was feeling very ambitious and may have gotten carried away. @zgraf: calm down fancy pants.
