Your project is most likely in C:project files. Back up all your files into an external drive or any other means. Uninstall X2 and reinstall .

May be able to recover by rolling back to a restore point. If not here is a post on how to perform a clean re-install of X2 http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2817470 Either way, your projects should be OK.

You should be able to uninstall whatever that mod is, followed by uninstalling Sonar, then installing Sonar again.

Please note that if you uninstall Sonar, you should also delete the hidden folder data and registry keys for it, prior to installing it again.

All your projects and audio files should remain, though I would HIGHLY recommend you back up any custom content you created (custom track or project templates, drum maps, etc), and also back up your projects folder (hopefully you are using per-project audio).

Please also note that during the uninstall, I would tell it not to delete the plugins.

I do not know what you would need to uninstall to remove the mods you applied.

To cleanly remove a given release of Sonar:

    1.  Do the backups as noted above.
    2.  Uninstall Sonar from the Control Panel.
    3.  Go to C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk and look for and delete the folder called: SONAR X2 Producer.
    4.  Go to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk and look for and delete the folder called: SONAR X2 Producer.
    5.  C:\Users\(your user ID)\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk and if present delete SONAR X2 Producer.
    6.  Fire up REGEDIT (I recommend exporting your Registry prior to updating it).
    7.  In REGEDIT go to Computer\HKEY\LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer, and if present, delete key X2.
    8.  Also in REGEDIT, go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer, and if present delete key X2.

You should be able to do a clean install of X2 and then X2a after completing the above.  During the install, I recommend temporarily suspending antivirus software AND also explicitly right-clicking on the Sonar install program and clicking on Run As Administrator for the install.

Right, no worry about your projects. They are not going to be touched. Although it wont be fun to reinstall its not the end of the world either. I think you may have downloaded Duckbar by Panu. His program is benign and shouldn't have caused the problem.

Duckbar has it's own backup/recovery functions. If I suspected Duckbar and had made the backup it suggests when first run, the built-in recovery process should restore SONAR.

Hey guys, is it possible that UAC is not accepting his Duckbar mods?
Every fatal/runtime error I have had traced back to UAC. After setting the suspect program to run as admin, these problems have been corrected.
    Just a thought.

Must have messed up the Duckbar install. As previously mentioned, it has the ability to set a restore point and bail at any time. There have been a number of Duckbar versions since X1. You should check the version at the Duckbar site and make sure it's right for your version of Sonar.

I make a system restore point before making any major change or before installing anything…so that I can go back if something goes wrong. It's a habit everyone should have ;-)

This should be standard practice for anyone that owns a DAW.

And I doubt that Duckbar did anything bad. It's a well written program and tested by many here in these forums.

As many have said, try system restore first.
