i need help lining up my midi notes

so, i want to align my midi notes with my audio timing.  I try to use quantize in the midi track but it never seems to line up the notes tightly as i would like.  perhaps i am doing this wrongly.

so here's how i do it:
for example in a midi snare hit track (from addictive drums)

I play the snare hits.  i playback to hear it doesn't line up nicely in time with a drum loop i am using.

so, i assume at this point quantize should do the trick.  the snare hits are 1/4 note hits , so i adust the resolution to 1/4 and pretty much keep all other setting as default - except reduce swing to 0.

now upon playback, it is better but not locked in to the drum loop track.  i assume it may be because the drum loop may not be locked into the metronome ?  what is another way to do this where the midi track can lock in with my drum loop track - without manually going into piano roll view and moving all the snare hits ?

thanks!

Make sure your loop is in time and on the downbeat.

If you look in piano view and the midi stuff is lined up, try selecting all or certain hits and nudge them.

Sometimes loops are not perfect and perfect midi hits sound off because they dont have the feel the loop does, so you may have to go through the whole midi track for a whole round of the loop you are trying to match and get the midi notes to line up.

Then you can copy/paste that section to go along with loop repeats or you can turn the bounce the midi clip, rag each end of it to end where the audio loop does and right click and groove clip it so you can drag it throughout the project with the audio clip...

If you cant get the groove clip to work right, just bounce the midi clip again and drag both ends to a downbeat and just copy and paste it somehow-
