i put a mic on the pc not usb dont record or volume very down

how i set up

dell inspiron 1525

2 memory
2 procesor

i put the mic on a track do record but theres no recording
if i take out the mic and talk to pc then record

the mic is with a mipc adapter
not usb the mic is a 10 $

..2 memory?..2 processor?..soundcard..what is it..no you dont need a pre amp,you will blow up your onboard soundcard doing that..if you mean your pluging in that little hole in the side of the computer.then you need to route it to your track.your onboard volume should be turned up..but i wouldnt know what you have for a soundcard cause you didnt tell me..nor did you tell me what kind of processor or computer your using..im blind here...very hard to help without knowing what you have and what your doing.
