i still remember you
Hi, This is an acoustic guitar ballad that morphs into a kind of Holiday Inn lounge type tune. 'A Holiday Inn lounge type tune?', how does THAT happen? Well, click here to find out : i still remember you All comments, criticism ( constructive or not ), complaints, etc appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Gary, that's some fine playing there. Timing is very good. Not a big fan of the drums, but I don't like drums anyway. Your playing reminds me of Larry Coryell, as on the album "Twelve frets to an octave". well done , Sir. Rik

Wow, Gary- outstanding performance. I felt like you were in the room with me. Very nice recording work too. I'd love to know what guitar and mic you used. It's the type of tune one would associate with like a Gibson L5 or a similar archtop, but that sounded like a round hole to me, and you still managed to grab that feel. And, my friend, that little ditty is way too good for a Holiday Inn... the Beverly Hilton maybe but Holiday Inn??? I don't think so . Excellent job, and a really pleasant listen for this old rocker.

Hi Gary - I've stayed in a Holiday Inn (very briefly!)and the music was definitely not as good as your excellent piece. Love the tempo change and the masterful musicianship. Definitely looking forward to hearing more. Best Regards Malcolm

breathtaking performance on the guitar... I loved the bass and kit as well... string pad could be a little more subtle and mixed back for my ears... this is scary good...

I kind of get what you mean about the hotel lounge thing, but it's not cheesey like that. Superb guitar playing for sure. On a personal level, I'm not sure it needs the drums at all and maybe that's what gives it the "lounge" feel. Still an enjoyable listen though. I never cease to be impressed at the talent of some the people on this forum.

as frank said "scarily good". The guitar playing is outstanding and what a nice tone youve managed to pick up too. The drums are ok, I dont think they added too much, but it still is another dimension to the song. I thought the synth vol was fine. ..and dont disrespect it by saying lounge music...it deserves more credit than that. Cian

Hello Gary, EXCELLENT very SMOOTH performance and mix. I'm really liking the space/room you created. I guess I'm the odd ball of the group. I really enjoyed the drums and think it help with the vibe and flow of this piece. Gary, did you play the drums. KUDOS, my friend and keep them coming. Kev

This is just plain old excellent --- a great composition, arrangement, mix, and some really excellent playing. I love the bass on this. What were you using for it? If this is Holiday Inn lounge music, then I like it. Freddy J

as always superb Gary. i love the guitar tone you have for this one. the song builds perfectly from the dreamy opening to a jazz wig out. mix is cool, other than i would remove a little of the verb from the kit, it sounds like the drummer is sat in a cave... amazing!

morenoise: Hi Rik. Thanks very much for the kind words. Especially about the timing because I really have to struggle to play in time ( well, I pretty much struggle with everything )...even when using a metronome. philz: Hi Phil. Thanks for listening and commenting. Glad you liked the tune. The guitar is a Collings 000 - something. It's the one I'm using for my avatar. I use two AKG C1000 mics to record. One pointed somewhere around the bridge and the other pointed at the 12th fret. Thanks again. malcolmb: Hi Malcolm. You stayed 'briefly' at a Holiday Inn? Hmmm...sounds like something improper going on there . I used to play pretty regularly at Holiday Inns but, since I was in Texas, it was a 'play country or die' kind of deal. I really appreciate the listen and your comments...thanks! notnat: Hey Frank. Thanks very much for listening and, of course, taking the time to leave a comment. I have a ton of respect for your abilities and opinions and appreciate the kind words. You're probably right about the string pad...I'm gonna adjust a few things over the weekend and that will be one of them. I really enjoyed the Hardcore Blues/Slidin' Slow video you've got posted, by the way. Thanks! No How: Hi Rick. Thank you! I'm glad you liked the tune. I was listening to 'More Of You' earlier...very nice work, as always. paulo: Hi Paulo. Thanks for listening/commenting. I think it's the combination of the walking bass line and the drums that creates the "lounge" feel. I have no problem embracing my inner "lounge lizard" though I'm glad you liked the tune. Thanks again. whack: Hi Cian. Thanks very much for listening/commenting and for the compliments. Much appreciated. drumstixkev: Hey Kev, are you ya? Great to hear from you. I appreciate your comments and I'm glad you liked the tune and the drums ( well, you are a drummer ). I didn't play the drums, though. I've been using EZ Drummer which I bought after asking you what you were using Freddy J: Hi Freddy. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. I appreciate the kind comments. The bass is the ( I think ) Full Acoustic that comes with Dimension Pro. mgh: Hi Mark. "a jazz wig out" I love that...haha! Thanks for listening and for the supportive comments. I'll definitely take a listen to the drums. By the way, your latest tune "Con Sanguina" is outstanding.

I loved the drums and thought they added a lot to the tune, though they could come down just a bit. Great guitar tone and recording. Composition as good as this is something I could never even try.

Gary, this has an Errol Garner or Cole Porter vibe. So, I couldn't help but love it. The production is top notch. Would you mind detailing how you record your acoustic? Wonderful stuff Gary.........

Sometimes music is just classic... Sometimes it's just good? Sometimes? You just have to listen to it and enjoy the musicianship... And this is one of those times. Excellent.

Sounds really good. It sounds really warm for some reason. It sounds like an instrumental version of a tune that has words, especially the hook "I still remember you". I really like it. --- Peace, --- Ian

The 3/4 time structure suits this song well. It keeps things bouncy. Nice finger work at the interludes. Those were interesting and surprising. Really beautiful casual feel at the end. I would have this playing in my home during the holidays! Matt
