i think i might be missing some track templates.

this is x1 producer ed.

this is what is listed for templates when i create a new project:

play list set
16 track audio
24 track audio
accessibility
acid techno
electronic
matrix
normal
rock
surround - 5.1
surround - 7.1
surround - quad

shouldn't there be a "blank" template?

and according to those shown in the sonar x1 explained - tutorial video, the should also be:

hip hop1
music video
pattern brush template
step sequencer v2
stereo mastering
vox + guitar

do you guys have all of those track templates?

thanks.

I've got the same as you. Those are 'Project Templates' in case that matters and it appears the video was made with a previous beta version so there are some differences.

And this is just a guess but they may have taken out a true 'blank' Project Template because Screen Sets get broken if there isn't at least one audio or MIDI track in a project.

I too noticed that a simple "blank" template is not to be found... Dunno why, though.

They should really let users know that a 'blank' project breaks Screen Sets. Sloppy.

well, considering that the "create a new project" tutorial in the x1 explained video uses a blank template in the lesson and so does seth pearlstien in sonar university session drummer 3 master class video, that kinda stinks.

    thanks for confirming.

how do you store a blank template of your own?

They had to leave it out since, as HumbleNoise points out, the Screensets don't work with a truly blank project.  You have to have a track or two in the template.  If you don't want to see any tracks when you call up a new Template you've made, just keep the tracks hidden in the Template by clicking "H," and remove them from view with the Track Manager.

The list in your post, M@B, is exactly what I have.

if i were to open a template and then delete all the tracks and save that blank template, would that create a technical issue of some kind?

i am not familiar with breaking screen sets.

What we've discovered is that if you don't have any tracks in a template, your Screensets won't come up correctly.  Things will be scrambled.  You need to have tracks.  If you don't want any, hide them with the Track Manager, and save the Template with them hidden.

You can save a blank template, but if you had Screen Sets saved they won't be saved properly.

If you don't use Screen Sets then I'm guessing no big deal and you can create them on a per project basis which will always, in theory, have a few tracks in it.

Let us know if there's a problem.
