i7 4th generation / Sonar

Hi,

Im about to get a new PC with these specs:

ASUS P9X79 DELUXE X79 MOTHERBOARD
Intel Core i7 4930K 3.40GHZ

As the 4th generation i& processors are quite recent, I wanted to check if any of you guys are using them without problem with sonar / other plugins  / software

Thanks in advance for the feedback,

Vinny

Cheers,

Vinny

I just upgraded my motherboard and CPU from AMD Phenom II to the Intel i7-4770K. While I had some issues transferring my Windows 7 installation over to the new motherboard, which I ultimately resolved, and which won't affect you, I have found the Core i7 CPU to work very well. I have yet to stress test it on certain projects with large numbers of tracks VST instruments, and real time effects, but my first tests show satisfactory results.

I strongly recommend an SSD for your boot and program disk, to get the best speed possible from your system.

    Dean L. Surkin - Steinway A (1902, rebuilt 1988), Kawai MP8, Yamaha KX-76; Intel i7-4770K, 32GB, RME AIO; HP ZR30w (great monitor!); Sonar Platinum, Garritan JABB3 and GPO4, VB3
One day, when I have the time, I will learn how to use all the features of Cakewalk 2.0. Oh, wait, Sonar 8.5. What did you say? Sonar version what?

If your OS has CPU parking set in the registry, disable it.     Otherwise you will see spikes in the CPU.  You can how to do that on the web.  I have i7-4770 and  it KILLS.   50 track project with plugs and some Virt instruments barely even use one thread out of the 8 run X3
