iLok issues
Hi, I have a few problems with my iLok2. Some licenses do not seem to be working. iLok's software is outdated and I am not able to update it. Download latest version and it says win7 must be updated. I have updated win7 but it seems that other update packages must be updated manually. I have tried everything and need help. ilok.com is useless. can't even find a link to email tech support. Can anyone help? Thanks joni

I'm not clear on what you mean by this. Have you run all of the OS updates for Win 7? How about the optional ones? (Do those too, if you haven't). Reboot your system, then uninstall iLok. Re-download the iLok manager installer with a download manager (To ensure it's not corrupted). Also, follow iLok's instructions during uninstall/reinstall. For example, remove the iLok key when instructed. It might be a good idea to insert the iLok in a different USB port so that it rebuilds the driver.

I had the same problem some months ago, when updating the ilok version. Opened a support ticket and was told which windows updates to check. I am pretty shure the link in karhides post will help you out. [link=http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/error_message/iLok-License-Manager-error-Windows-7]http://avid.force.com/pkb...anager-error-Windows-7[/link] Look through the Microsoft Windows updates for either update KB3125574 or update KB3033929 The problem was, one of these is the "unofficial" SP 2 for Windows 7 (KB3125574). If you patch your system regularly (like me), you dont have this. You have this, when you set up your system after the release date of this update. As the ilok check only looks for specific KBs, it reacts wrong, causing this problem. Pretty ugly.

Hi, it seems obvious - but you downloaded the right variant 32/64 Bit ? I remember there was something like this on my PC too and I had to manually unpack & installing from the command line - figured out in two or three hours how this had to be done. Shame on ilok they did not fix this yet I made a Support ticket where they named These two W7 Updates. Here my answer to ilok Support after I had figured out this: ------------------------------------------------------- Hello, thank you – the numbering oft he packages helped me to sort out. I have had 2 situations: 1) Relating KB3033929 – the system did not show up this as installed, but when i tried to install this, the system said it was already installed. Tried to uninstall with wusa showed up the package would not be there. 2) The forced install of „SP2“ (KB3125574)worked, but I had all the content already and this borked my system almost – it hang during installation and did not shut down correct. But finally one boot sequence in saved mode cleaned this up. After all this finally I got ilok 3.1.3 installed. Finally I see my system was on the newest state already. Checking if one of those packages is installed is not reliable – even more when the system is older, like my , and was regularly patched. I would check this out, because I guess that I am not the only W7 user with this issue. And I needed almost 3 hours from my costly and rare freetime to figure this out….. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So you are the next victim of iloks laziness.... Sorry, I did not make a better solution path the described here. Essentially 2 steps: 1) Using Wusa https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/934307/description-of-the-windows-update-standalone-installer-in-windows 2) Make a forced update ( I am not sure anymore how I did manage it) But as I remember, it seems risky. Sorry, no better news

Thank you SigiZ58 for you reply. I am still struggling with this...much more than 3 hours now. I am running win7 64bit, So I guess I should download and install the third file from the table bellow right?: https://www.dropbox.com/s...08.23.44%20PM.png?dl=0 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3125574) is this the right one?

after some optional updates and a couple of restarts I managed to install KB3125574. Now computer restarted and in hang at Configuring Windows Updates 13% complete Do not turn off your computer Well, its been at 13% for at least the last 30 minutes. I am afraid to restart the computer so I am going to leave it alone overnight. If by tomorrow morning it is still at 13% is it safe to restart it? this is so annoying.... Thanks joni

I did not have the License Manager installed for several years. When I needed updates, I was told first to install License Manager and make sure it was current. I was afraid it would mess up existing authorizations, but it did not.

Hi djoni, Looks like with my PC. You can wait overnight, but I guess it will stay in this state. So you can shutdown and then boot one time in safe mode (I described in my post above)! Hopefully then all will be fine. Good luck! Sigi
