iPad + $9.99 = Sonar specific control surface !!
Hi all I know this is "old" news - http://saitarasoftware.com/Site/AC-7_Pro.html But I just got an email back from the developer and the good news is that - the Sonar mode / module is only 2 updates away [ 2 months away ] ** IF ** you have an iPad - this will be a no=brainer. Tom

Thanks for the update. Can the current version be made to work with Sonar in a more generic way?

I never could get DSMIDI WIFI to work on my system/network.Opened up all ports on my wireless and still not working. Seems dsmidiwifi more geared to mac Iphone Automap, on the other hand works great with my system .. although I cant control the Busses with it or my novation controller, but tracks and transport are there

It's sexy and all, but personally, this kinda stuff just distracts me from work (kinda like internet forums). Plus I could see clients getting distracted by it: "DOOD! CAN I PLAY WITH IT?!?"  Hmmm, how bout you play guitar instead?

First, to all the detractors, dudes, I feel your pain.
Me, I already have an iPad, for other reasons, but that it is becoming a rich musical device is a bonus! But here, it is going to make me learn some things I don't know about, because I think it will be cool to use the iPad also as a control surface. Looking at some of the demo videos is pretty persuasive.
So those people that really know, I believe the AC-7 works with a server program on the computer via Wi-fi. If that's true, it makes perfect sense. Just wondering, what about via Bluetooth to a similar server program? Would that be a good or bad thing? Its just that on my primary DAW computer, I usually leave it off the network just to help ensure it stays in pristine as possible condition, though I do admit to connecting to my ethernet occasionally. I just don't usually use Wi-Fi with it, though I have it. But the computer does have Bluetooth, and if it didn't, it would be simple to attach. Does anyone know of the possibilities with Bluetooth?
I remember reading Frontier's Transport FAQs and they said that although their interface is in the same frequency band, its not Bluetooth and therefore has lower latency. Really?
Just trying to learn something new (as if I don't already have a lot to learn!!)

I have the ipod/iphone version of the saitara app, and it's very useful and works great :) not as handy as the real MCU, but for a roaming studio it's great :)

What I want from a controller is tactile response. A rotary knob or fader. No matter how pretty this is, I don't think it'll ever be a serious part of my setup. (I'll probably purchase it anyway  ) -Alex
