iPad Cake forum woes.

You know... Just to add to the list of "fix this please".

I can't comment on the forums while I'm on my iPad.  I can get a cursor in the text box, but the iPad keyboard doesn't recognize it as such and pop up as it should.  I find that it's rather hard to type without a keyboard.... So then I discovered that I get the iPad keyboard when creating a post (cursor in subject field)... but not in the the message body.

So I guess I could post 5,664,987,556Thread Subjects, if I really wanted to get their attention?

Back when there was a time limit on writing a post (they may still have a limit, but it's apparently longer), some other users wrote that they often composed their replies in Notepad, if they were somewhat wordy, then copied and pasted it in the Reply space.
Maybe that will work?
Well, your Apple gizmo may not have Notepad, but I'm sure it has something similar.

They do I'm sure but it probably requires a $79 app to convert its output to a standard text format from proprietary iText...

I have the same problem on my iphone -

I think it's becuase iphone and ipad don't have java or flash - there are are lot of things that use flash or java  and it's a problem with apple gizmos liek iphone and ipod

adobe gives up on flash for ipad or iphone >> http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/04/adobe-flash-iphone/

One of the big knocks on the iPad and iPhone is that they don't support Flash, but of course, they don't support Java either, and for the same reason -- there will be no runtimes on iPhone OS devices, period.  -- http://www.javaworld.com/community/node/3996

so .... I THINK that's why they're not friendly with certain forums

not being a programmer - I dunno

but not support java or flash is a big problem for hand held apple devices - I think it has to do with apples arrogance

I dunno - other guys on here know way more about this subject can chime in -

but it does seem to suck not to have java or flash support on any hand held web surfing device

Back to that Apple link about flash. Jobs actually has some pretty good points there. I kind of thought they were just jerks.
But after reading that, I'm thinking he's right for not adopting Flash. Flash is old, and been around way before mobile devices. Now there's new technology and encoding.

ehhh

I dont care - flash  - java - html - html5 - WTF ever!

Just get it to work so I can surf the ENTIRE web and post on forums  watch video - and do what I want - like it's SUPPOSED to work

and I dont care if its an old program or new  - or something magical from the heavens -

if it suppose to do it -- then it should do it

if its not suppose to do it - then fine - but until  then  - you gotta admit it kinda sucks that it's inadequate for some parts of the internet

I guess I'll stick to lap top and pc - for those parts

ohh and that thing  that Steve Jobs starts off my stating that adobe is clearly in it for the money - hahahahaaa

If I am not mistaken, Steve Jobs is a Millionaire because of Apple - and he's pretty much gun ho on making money - he's gonna give out free iphones to the people in the waiting list??? - oh I bet he doesn't - he wants his money -  not a bad thing for a company to be in it for the money - thats why they exist -

well like grandpa mooch said ,

It's all Bullsh**!

and so was that Steve Jobs article -  you would know it wasn't BS if it wasnt critizing adobe - and if it wasnt a page long full of mumbo jumbo  - and got to the point -

it didn't

and I can smell a lie a mile away

but again - I'll say it - I don't care what programs  makes it work over the ENTIRE WEB - but thats what I want.... and right now it doesn't   -

so ... it kinda sucks that it doesn't

but I'll live..... and laugh at what a toy the iphones of 2010 are compared to 2020 ....

Mooch - sounds like you didn't even read Jobs points.

I could or should elaborate more -
first I read it - and it sounds like Steve Jobs is saying its old and dated technology and not as slick - and it seems like he's saying its a resource hog - not as powerful as other applications such as the new HTML5 and other video applications that are slicker - and why stick with all that - lets move away from that

top it off adobe is taking a long time to delvelop java as something  to be a small resource on mobile devices yet just as powerful on a home PC- and they are taking forerver with it - YEARS - and keep changing the date of when it will be done

that's what Steve Jobs is saying - he is done with java - they can do what they want

he also calls them a closed  sourced and all about money - which in my opnion is exactly what apple is-

none the less back to my point

my point is this - all that is meaningless to me as a consumer

as an iphone owner I don't care about WHY it dooesnt surf the ENTIRE net smoothly - I just know it doesnt

blame the java applications on the internet - blame apple development - adobe? Bill gates - or blame Bozo the clown  and give lots of reasons or excuses as why

hence my grandpa mooch's comment - "It's all Bullsh***!"

(shrugs)

The" why" doesnt matter to me  - I am just a guy who paid money for the phone along with a monthy 20 internet fee and I would like to surf the entire internet... please.... for my 20 a month fee -

the reasons why It dont work mean nothing to me -

I am not in charge of all that -

Just get it to work - for the ENTIRE WEB

I bought a ford escape in 2006 -- it doesnt give me any restrictions on streets I get to drive on

I bought an Iphone in late 2009.... I don't want restrictions on where I can surf the web

The manufactures should be obligated to worked together and make the comsumer happy.

Instead we get to read a one page rant by the mighty Steve Jobs - who basically bashses Adobe as a one time freind but now behind the times and not worth working with becuase there are slicker less resource hungry programs to surf the web with -

despite the fact there are java applications all over the internet  that need them regular old java

ok - fine

but I dont wanna hear about all that

I just want it to work

thats apples motto isnt it -

again - all the excuses and reasons and points about java good or bad don't mattter to me as a consumer -

I just want to surf the ENTIRE WEB

who knows - it maybe up to cakewalk - or anyone else who builds web pages to have a "mobile" friendly site as well as a regular pc site - which seems to be the way things are going

again - whatever -

none of it matters to me

When i can surf the entire web - free and clear of hassle - then I'll be like ahhhhhhhhh....this is worth 20 a month to have the internet in my pocket

well I basically said my point of view in two different threads - and even read the steve jobs rant twice  - and bapu is calling me -- so I gotta run

hopefully you read mine --

I am a fairly avid reader on just about anything
