importing video

hi everyone, i'm trying to import a short video. i go through the steps as per the X-2 book by Garrigus but i keep getting an error message saying "unsupported file format" i've tried changing the video format to quick time, movie maker, windows media, nothing seems to work. when i was running Sonar-6 i was able to import videos with no problem. does anyone have any ideas??
thanks

I believe the only file types it imports are AVI, MPG, WMV, and MOV.

Are you sure they are in the correct format. How did you convert the files? What was the original format? Is this possibly copyrighted material that is protected?

I tested MPG, WMV and AVI and they work on my system.

I work in film and use Sonar for Sound Design and Track Lay and as long as you have the correct codecs on your system then you should have no problems.

as Dave says above MPG, AVI, WMV (and MOV) work fine.

There might be better, cheaper solutions, but Quicktime Pro will export an AVI file that works well on my system.

Install Klite codecs. This should help......

Sonar *can* be a bit fussy with MOV files, just get "codec'd up to the hilt!"
