input/output problems

input/output problems

i have sonar 8 producer and i can only record on/play back on tracks one and two. i feel like there is a simple solution to this but when i go to adjust the inputs and outputs, it will not let me choose anything to run through/out of. as an interface i am using a pod xt with a usb out

    hi,
    we'll need some more info.  when you say you "go to adjust the inputs and outputs, it will notlet you choose anything to run through/out of" - that doesn't really make sense.  could you be more specific exactly what you're doing?  are you trying to choose an input and output on a new audio track?  from the pull down menus for input and output?  what IS available?  what won't it let you select that you're trying to select?

    is the podXT showing up at all in those menus?

    if not, what is listed for the RECORDING and PLAYBACK DEVICES in OPTIONS>AUDIO?

    Just a plain old POD XT?
    The Line6 driver is ASIO, so you cannot run another device at the same time (not even another Line6 device.)  Also, not really the best thing to use as an audio interface - it is designed primarily to get guitar sounds in, not get other sounds out.
