is anyone using East West Hollywood Choirs with Sonar?
In short, I'm playing the choir part into a midi track ( piano, organ, pick an instrument ). When I copy the midi track ( with loads of gain ) into the "Play" folder and load hollywood choirs, the voices are barely audible. Any clue with this? Thanks WG

Check the mod wheel on the VST. I have not used Play, but the ARIA Player sets that to zero after you move it. You most likely have a CC low/zero on that track or in the Play VSTi itself.

SOLVED from EW support The Hollywood series needs MIDI CC content to set/adjust the volume. In Sonar, please try going to Project >> MIDI >> Preferences and turning off "Zero controllers when play stops" and "Patch/Controller Searchback Before Play Starts”
In Sonar Platinum the menu and MIDI preferences have changed. The corresponding settings are now located at Edit >> Preferences >> Project >> MIDI. The options to uncheck are called “Zero Controllers When Play Stops” and “MIDI Event Chase on Play”.

I've just started using Hollywood Choirs and after a while the volume lowers. It also has happened with Italian pipe organs. I'll try the suggestion and report later this week.

Another option if you leave searchback enabled (often desired if you play MIDI data randomly on the transport), is to insert CC events at the beginning of the track(s) to the value you prefer. For ARIA player, this is pretty much required, since the VSTi itself is what zeros out the MOD wheel (after you touch it), not SONAR/CbB.

Yes much better to set the CC's explicitly to what you want rather than turning off searchback and zeroing controllers. Thats a hack to circumvent the problem rather than a solution.

I have had the same issue with other VSTs, e.g. Native Instruments. This happens in other DAWs as well.
