is it possible to get to the step sequencer easily?

i know that sounds dumb but, i just upgraded to x1 yesterday.
 
i use the step sequencer to do all of my drums, i know how to get to it. but im so used to the little step sequencer button at the top of the screen.
 
i tried to dock the step sequencer view in the multidock, but when i click off of the current loop i made and want to make a new one it shows up with the one i just made. 
 
is it possible to just click to the next measure and start a lood without having to open a new step sequencer window?  im positive there is i just cant figure it out?
 
in any case im liking x1 so far, aside from the fact that everything seems much bigger, and looks like i need more space on my monitor, i like it very much.
 
thanks for the help in advance.
 
oh and i did use the alt+4 key, i dunno, maybe im just picky but i do miss that little button at the top!

    The button is gone, but as far as I can tell, Alt+4 should give the same result if you follow the same procedure as in 8.5. After creating the first clip, move your Now time to the next measure/section, and when you hit Alt+4 again, you'll get a fresh SS window starting at the current Now time.


    If you're that big a Step Sequencer user, you might want to bind a single key  (or an easy-to-reach combo like Alt+S) to it so you don't have to reach for the awkward Alt+4 combo.


    If you really want a button, I bet Benstat's SONARPlus utility will give you one.

    He has a "step record" button. Not sure what it does though.

    Select the MIDI track you want. Set the Now time where you want the SS to start.

    Right click that point in the track then on the menu select view/step sequencer. Or from the main Sonar view menu.

    You need to open an SS window for every different sequence you want to create. Having to tell Sonar to open an SS window makes sense once you get SS clips and MIDI clips in the same track.

    In addition to all of the above.......... I have a screenset dedicated to the step sequencer.

    I have dual monitors TV in one multidock in the other with the step sequencer open. If you want to open another instance and leave the current clip alone, right click on the step sequencer's tab in the multidock and select "lock contents"

    i figured out the right clicking on the track.

    i only have one 23" monitor and it seems smallwith x1, everything is bigger than 8.5, besides that i like it.

    'lock contents' allows to start a new loop in the smae window? or will it open a new sequencer window every time?

    Opens a new window. If you don't want that don't lock it and it'll open in the same window.

    Keypresses D, C, I & B will help a lot in a single monitor set up
