Deja Vu? I believe we answered a similar post recently.
Sync values in Rapture, Dimension, Zeta, and most other VST synths correspond to divisions of a beat, and not to the time allotments of musical notes.
But, if you want 16th note pulses, for instance, open a blank Program in Rapture, Load a Saw (try Saw 8080), and then.
using the Amp Step Modifier, set these parameters:
Status: On
Steps: 32
Sync: 1
Smooth: 1
Depth: 100
Now, in the Step drawing area, draw alternating bars -- the first on at 100%, the second off, the third 100%, the fourth at 0, the fifth 100%, the sixth at 0, etc. for all 32 steps. When you're finished, it your sequence should have a "jail-house" ambiance, which is very stylish this year.
Set Sonar to something reasonable, like 60 bpm (lower if you wish to count the pulses), enable Midi echo for the appropriate track, and press middle C. If all is right with your system, you'll hear 16 pulses per measure.
Note the example uses Sync = 1 and Steps = 32. Do they appear, at first look, incorrect? Good. Understanding why these parameters work to generate 16 pulses per measure, in conjunction with the jail-house sequence, is fundamental to your understanding of the step modifier and the use of sync, in general.
