is there a way to tie multiple synths together?

What I am looking to do is something similar to what I have seen in Ableton, my drummer uses Abelton Live during our live shows and he can create what he calls a drum rack where he can use the Kick and Snare from Steven Slate and the Toms from Addictive Drums for example to run with his triggers. This is the same kind of thing I want to do for my demo work, programming the drums in the step sequencer as I do but being able to tie to the same sequence pattern. I am currently running X3 Producer but thinking of taking advantage of the summer sale. Thanks for your help guys.

    In the example above where different notes trigger sounds from different synths, drum maps are a solution. See http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=DrumEditor.03.html#. They work in X3 too.
