issue with metronome

The metronome in Platinum was working fine until the latest update.   Now when I press "record," there is no metronome.  I can get it to play during the whole time I'm recording.   But I only want it to count off until the music starts.  Then I want it to stop.  How do I fix it?

Thanks!
Greg

I'm not sure the metronome ever only did a count in!
I always just add 4 or so hi hat or side sticks in measure one.
I know there's been many who wish for a negative first measure so the song always starts on 1.

    Hmm...
I didn't know you could have the click set to stop after the music starts. That's cool.
A workaround might be to make a track just for the click, then set the volume automation to turn the volume down after your count-in?

Yes, it's always had a count in.

There are 3 little icons on the metronome part of the Control Bar

The top two engage the 'nome when playing and/or recording
The bottom one lets you access the detailed settings. Choose your count in there
Don't forget to use Audio metronome

Route the metronome to a new aux track, record it as audio, then have it whenever you want.  I do this when I have to send out stems to other producers on other platforms so they can seamlessly align my tracks in their projects

Have you tried going to "Preferences/Metronome setting" ?
You can set your count in to how ever many beats, clicks you want.

Yes, but it only allows me to have the metronome on all the time when I record.  It doesn't give me the option to have it count 4 beats then stop.

    Thanks!

In that case you'll have to drop in a few short midi notes

In metronome settings, Use Audio Metronome is checked.  For Output there are 4 choices:  none, my interface, master and metronome.   Checking 'none' does nothing.   Master and metronome cause the metronome to continually play during recording.    I haven't tried choosing my interface.

It used to count off 4 beats to record, then stop.   Now it doesn't.   I would love to find out why it stopped working.  I can use the drums to do it, but I like having the ability to have Sonar count then stop.

    Thanks!

Yes I seem to remember it happening that way once upon a time.

But I played around with it last night and couldn't get the metronome to switch off after the count in.

I did a few tests last night.

If I disable the playback and record metronome (both are NOT eluminated), I hear a 4 count then recording starts and no metronome is heard during recording

chuckebaby is right.  Under Preferences | Metronome you can have a metronome during recording or playback or both or neither.  And you can have a count-off with or without hearing it during recording or playback.

There is a metronome bus and it is always possible that got deleted, muted, or turned down.
