issues with scanning plugins

When I've opened Sonar X3 and it scans the VST plugins, there's been 365.   I recently installed Waves MondoMod.   Now when it scans, it takes longer to scan, and it says I only have 314 plugins.

Not sure what to do about it.   Suggestions?

Thanks!
Greg

    Hi Greg

A bit of a long shot, but did you have other Waves plug-ins installed before, and it is these that are now missing?

Why I ask is because when you're installing new Waves plug-ins using their 'universal' installer, you also have to make certain that all your existing plug-ins are also checked. These check boxes usually get pre-populated when you run the installer, but if for some reason they don't, or you unwittingly uncheck them because you don't see any reason to 're-install' them, this will result in those plug-ins missing when you perform a VST scan.

    Hi Steve -

I have other Waves plugins.   But I didn't uncheck them, and I don't remember them being unchecked.

But I did just think of something.   I opened Cakewalk's Command Center, and it said that it was out of date.   I updated it and it downloaded some things.   I'm wondering if "maybe" updating it caused some plugins not to be installed  (that perhaps I need to reinstall them??).

In Command Center, they're all green on the left side, so maybe they're good.

Another question I have:   On the link to do a full VST rescan, it says doing the scan "will remove custom configuration settings applied to plugins.   For example, if you configure an audio effect as a synth, this setting will be erased and you will need to reapply the setting."

This isn't referring to plugins within songs, right?

    Thanks!
    Greg

If you're on Sonar X3 why are you using Sonars Command Centre?

Greg, do you have my VST inventory tool? If not, you can get it from mudgel's archive here. It might help.

One theory: the scan aborted before completion because one of the plugins' registration routines failed. The trick is determining which one it was. Sure would be nice if the plugin scanner kept a log, but it doesn't so you just have to watch the little progress dialog very closely.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

There is an on demand log. In platinum shift click the "Scan" button in VST preferences and it will scan and create a detailed log.

This is new to me. Nice. Great feature. If it's documented I haven't seen it.

OK here I go again, enhancement request... Make this a tickbox option, most people aren't going to know about this. Ta.
