johnson j station and windows 7 64 bit

I have a johnson j station  and I really like the jedit software that it utilizes via midi. anyone have any experience with this in a 64 bit environment? I'm about to take the plunge and get anew system that I hope to utilize windows 7 64 bit. It's a stand alone unit,but the editing sofware makes it about a zillion times easier to use. Your thoughts?

I got my J Edit software working on Windows 7 64 bit by doing the following:
1) Right-click on the installer (JEdit12a.exe) and choose "Run as Administrator"
2) Follow the instructions to install the program.
3) When prompted to restart, go ahead and restart.
4) To start the program, right click on the Start Menu item "Johnson J-edit" and choose "Run as administrator."
5) Edit away...

To set up the start menu item so you don't have to always right-click to "Run as adminstrator" do the following:
1) Click Start menu and right-click on the menu item "Johnson J-edit" and choose "Properties"
2) Click on the "Advanced" tab
3) Check the box labeled "Run as administrator"
4) Click "OK"
5) Click "OK" on the Properties window.
 
Now it will run as administrator every time.
So glad I got it working. Woo Hoo! I hope this helps others.

 
 
I know this is an older thread - but I had to say thanks. I just installed Win8 and this works. I was sweating this one out. Not having the j-station was almost a deal breaker for upgrading to win8.

I have searched the internet and found this to be the most active thread on this subject, so I am posting this here hoping some genius with The Answer with show up..
 
I also am running Windows 7 64-bit, which I just installed last August 27, 2012, and I immediately tried to run J-edit. (Which worked fine under my old win XP box.) Installing and running as an Administrator (which as sole owner/builder/user I am) allowed me to install and run the programs, but it failed to find the J-station via my M-audio/delta Audiophile sound card's hardware midi connection. (I can use my Yamaha keyboard connected to the same midi port with no problem).
 
I then bought and connected a USB midi cable, which windows says is working fine.  It shows up in the J-edit midi settings, I can select it and it still does not find the J-station!!!  I'm about ready to buy a new "J-station like" device, but I would rather not as I love the sound of the J-station, and have no way of knowing if any other device would be found by my ****ed windows 7 64 bit system....

Therion, I don't have much to offer as I'm not at all familiar with your midi interface. All I can suggest is the following troubleshooting:
1) To make sure the program is installed and running as above, uninstall j-edit and re-install (and run) using the method in my previous post.
2) make sure that the j-station's midi in and out is connected to the same midi port (if you have more than one)
3) run only the j-edit program with no other programs that might use the midi interface. Make sure to "Run as administrator"
4) Make sure the in and out on your midi interface are (is?) enabled.
5) Double-check your settings on the j-station to make sure the midi is set up right (I don't have mine hooked up right now, so I'm not sure what they may be. Consult the manual)
6) Make sure your midi interface has the most up-to-date drivers for Win7 64bit
7) double-check both of your midi cables to make sure they're working properly
8) and any other troubleshooting you can possibly think of.
 
Try it with a different midi interface. Maybe you have a friend or acquaintance who has one you could borrow. I have a MOTU Midi Express and the j-station with j-edit work just fine.
 
Also, I know that when you launch j-edit it cycles through all the midi ports to find the one the j-station is connected to. It sends a "midi send" command to the j-station out of the port, then waits for input on the same port. That process can take a while sometimes.
 
Best of luck and I hope you get it working. I'm using mine in our Church worship band direct into the board with a Behringer FCB 1010.

ok guys, anyone tried this with windows 10 ? I would think that this would go smoothly, having navigated through xp and windows 7 successfuĺly, but it would be nice to hear that it worked ok on 10 as well. certainly not a windows 10 deal breaker, but I just love some of the j station's models and working with j edit makes everything SO much easier than the "deep edit" mode on the front panel. I know it's asking a lot of something that has been out of support for a decade and a half, but hey...
