joining without snap?

Is there a way to get a clip to join perfectly without snap?
EG, a case where I've had to unsnap to cut in a "random" location so snap is not useful.
In this case I'm copying a section from elsewhere and then moving to fit against the existing but I run across it anytime I'm moving at or with odd (non snap) locations.

I've been zooming way in and it works but seems not very precise.
Maybe I'm over focusing, it sounds good enough I guess.

I'm not sure I'm understanding but you do realise that you can use snap without the time setting. i.e. You can join two clips at some random point in time by enabling snap to clip landmarks but disabling the time setting.

There are also options for transients, MIDI landmarks and markers. They are found beneath the time setting in the snap module.

Thanks once again. No I didn't know about snap to clip landmarks. That sounds like it.
I thought it had to be linked to the time line and all we had were the settings to 1/8, 1/16", 1/32" etc.

Prior to snap to clip landmarks, I used to do this.

Select the clip that you DON'T want to move and select the right hand edge of the clip. I can't remember the keyboard shortcut for this - I set up a custom one, using Alt + G for beginning of clp and Alt + h for end of clip.

Now insert a marker OR just make a not the now time position in whatever format you want. Samples is probably the most accurate

Select your other clip, and under clip properties, change it's start time to the time you noted above.

Sounds long winded but takes a few seconds in practice

Thanks again guys. It's time I went thru the help and my Sonar X1Power manual again.
I have issues trusting that they are up to date due to so many programs that are more confusing than helpful. They're better than I expected.

I don't think Scott's book goes beyond X1, i.e. nothing about any of the X1a to X1d patches, and definitely nothing on Expanded.

Good point. I have upgraded since then.
The help file on Sonar is not bad tho.
