just got X1
Can I install X1 and leave Sonar 8.5 installed on the same computer without incurring some disaster?
I wouldn't try to open them simultaneously, but would like to be able to use either one til I get used to X1.

Yes you can install both. But... you can't come back and complain about the same bugs that have been beaten to death. X1b should be out in a few weeks.

I have both on my system and have no problems with either. Both are 64 bits under Vista.

Yes, you can and should leave 8.5 in place.
One caveat: if you installed 8.5 from download, you should save a copy of the Sonitus Delay DLL from Shared DXi somewhere that you can copy back after X1 overwrites the good version with a memory-leaking one.
If you installed 8.5 from disks, you've already got the leaky one, and will need to go back to your 8.0 or earlier disks to get a good one or you can wait and see if one comes with X1b.
For good measure I now always back up all the shared folders before an upgrade for just this eventuality.
