I just purchased a V-Studio 20. I hadn't even considered it before, since Guitar Tracks Pro is severely limited except for raw beginners, IMO....
However, I own both Sonar X! Producer and Ableton Live 8.2.2. I had assumed it would work with Sonar X1, but to my surprised it is a great all-in-one audio interface for Live - its control surface is very flexible (although you can't control more than one bank of controls with sliders using MIDI Learn - Bank A is all you get), but it controls more than enough for live performance.
For example, I have track 1 slider devoted to Guitar Volume (a bit redundant, since I can also control it with the Input control), with track 2 controlling basic rhythm loop, and track 3 controlling an additional loop. Track 4 and 5 sliders control Reverb Hall Size and Mix, Track 6, 7, 8 control crash cymbal volume, and Bass drum EQ and volume. Midi Backup know controls Tempo, and DAW output controls Master volume of Live, with Output Level controlling overall output (I don't use the internal effects of V-Studio, so Direct Monitor is all the way off, as is the COSM effect.
Anyway, I had been using Korg NanoControl, but the V-STudio allows me to control my rhythm backing as well as use guitar effects from Live (reverb) in a single USB unit on my Netbook.... (I use the keyboard to trigger loops and the arrow keys to move around in the Session View)...
So the V-Studio is well worth the money for me as both a control interface and an audio input. Of course, it works seamlessly with Sonar X1b........
