keyswitches in platinum

If I use keyswitches in step recording, the keyswitch shows up as a time value. If I use keyswitches in staff notation, only the last keyswitch i entered is played, for all notes, even previously entered. Trying to get all those different artics in an EW Irish low whistle. What's best? Thanks in advance.

How does Staff view know the difference between a keyswitch and a regular note ?

The keyswitch does not record as a note in staff view - it merely alters the articulation. However, in staff view (for me), whatever I have entered as the last keyswitch reverts all the notes i have entered to that keyswitch. I'd like it to change just the last note.

How does staff know the difference between a regular note and a keyswitch instruction - I presme it's a feature of MIDI, but I'm a saloon trombonist, so that's a guess.
