laptop drivers

Hello, my laptop has sigmatel, and I just downloaded asio drivers, but when I attempt to activate them in sonar 8, by choosing options-audio, they are not listed. I want to activate them, because I think sigmatel is the reason that I can't press the record button(disabled), even though the track is armed. All suggestions welcome, Thanks.

Those are drivers for your on board sound card, They won't be ASIO. You can't do much in sonar with a on board sound card. $400 software does not get along with $20 sound interfaces. Look into purchasing a audio interface which is what is recommended for working in Sonar. They start at $100. Beagle here has a list of good ones, he keeps track of that stuff.

For serious work, you need a decent interface but you can probably make use of the laptop soundcard until you get one by loading ASIO4ALL. http://www.asio4all.com/
