latency on Dimension Pro

When I insert a soft synth onto a track in a previously recorded midi file I get latency on the track compared to my hardware synth.  It also seems to be larger than when I play a soft synth from my keyboard.  Is this normal??  Is there anyway of automatically adjusting this so all tracks are in sync?????

The gear I use is - Laptop - Quad Core 2.4ghz, 6mb ram, win 7 64bit, sonar x1 studio, lexicon omega interface.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Yea a sfoftsynth will exhibit more latency since your computer generates the sound.  Latency settings are found In your interfaces software if you are running asio drivers.  There is usually a slider there.
