latency problems for X1 producer on hp laptop

Hi,

I have a HP DM4 laptop (4gb ram, intel core i5 2.53ghz) and have just installed x1 producer. Terrible popping sound from the soundcard. changing the latency buffer helps to reduce but not remove the problem. that is just playing back, so i am worried that this will be terrible when i start to record and play.

can anyone help to remove this curse? the laptop is new and the software is new... should i send one of them back? or is there a workaround that I can do?

appreciate any advice!

what soundcard do you have?  are you trying to use the onboard soundcard?  if so, I recommend you buy a "recording" soundcard.  check my website for recommendations.

    HI there WakingDragon.

I would suggest you use an external sound card. http://www.m-audio.com/ make some good products.

or you can install asio4all just google it. it is essentially a small program which acts like a wrapper and makes sonar think that your sound card is an ASIO device. dont expect miracles though. onboard sound cards on laptops are not designed to work very well with pro audio DAW's you can play around with the different sound card setup in sonar -- go and look at cakewalks site they have great video's on how to setup an audio device, and changing them etc. its under the getting started section http://www.cakewalk.com/C...ONARU.aspx/Get-Started

if you are serious do some research and search the forums

Beagles site also looks very good.

    best of luck.

Agreed on the external sound card. I use a Presonus Firebox on 3 different DAW's with fantastic results.

    System: HP Pavilion 450t. Windows 10 Home x64, Intel i7 870: 2.93 Ghz, 8G RAM - NVIDIA GeForce GT 610
    DAW: Sonar Platinum
    Audio Interface: Akai EIE Pro
    Midi Controller: Presonus FaderPort
    Midi Keyboard: M-Audio Axiom 49

Might consider a UA-1G.  I use one on a HP DV6000 and can achieve a 6ms round trip for recording. But it has limited inputs.  I'm very happy with mine.
