latency settings changes leads to drop out and program restart

Hi guys, i hope that someone can help me with this. I have a focusrite saffire 24 pro dsp working with my sonar x1. Every time i want to change the latency settings i get a drop in the audio engine and i can`t bring it back on, so i have to re start the program. Is there a workaround? or every time i want to change this so i can go from tracking to mixing i have to restart sonar????
Mayor turn off!

Thanks!

I think that's pretty normal unless you use the ASIO drivers.

I use ASIO drivers because it's easy to change the latency with SONAR and a Project file open without problems.

    What are you using?

Thats shouldnt happen with WDM drviers either. with WDm ,you can change on the fly.

It may have to do with the setting your setting it to or your hard drive configuation (Have different program and audio drive @ 7200rpm).
It could also be from not using up to date drivers from Focusrite.

i`m using ASIO drivers of course. This didt happen with sonar 8.5 nor sonar x1a but when i updated to x1c it came with this problem and a bonus, i can`t drag and drop wav files from the desktop to sonar. I have to go to import audio. =(

Something is definitely wrong with your set up, as i do what you cant about 5 to 100 tracks a day (drag and drop from desktop).

What where your driver settings when that happened? you probably just needed to lower the buffers. You never go with the default settings.

Since your using an outdated driver, i would first upgrade that and re-set all the sound card settings for optimal performance

I tried to change all my buffer settings, since it didn,t work i donwgraded the drivers. So now my only problems are the ones i stated before.

What about that wave profile thingy?

With ASIO I can change latency buffers and sample rate while everything is open.

I thought I recalled having to re-profile every time I changed a WDM driver?

Anyways, it seems like a bigger problem than that...

    Good luck.

    best regards,
    mike

gygabyte motherboard. Intel quad 8300 8gigs of ram. windows 7 64bit
Two Hard Drives, but all my programs and audio projects are on the same drive.

Thanks for all the trouble =)

Move your CWP and per project folders to your 2nd drive. Its better to have your pograms on one drvie and your audio on another. yuo get better performance

What about that wave profile thingy?

you don't have to run the wave profile every time you change your WDM slider settings. I never had to do that.
Actually, WDM is faster than ASIO when changing their settings

i'd talk to focusrite about that, sounds like a driver issue.  maybe try turning off the audio engine before changing latency?

I must just be remembering having to do that stuff when changing sample rate and not latency.

It's been a while since I used the WDM drivers on my hardware.

    Thanks.

    best,

Yea, that was with the sample rate of some cards, like the old Edirol cards
