latest version, getting really slow (relatively) in opening...

It loads the default window, but then I get the windows blue circle for about 15-20 seconds before anything can happen. Does the same thing when loading projects, even those with just audio, no efx nothing expect pure audio wav files.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't installed the bandlab version yet, but 15-20 seconds ?????  Wow, that's quick!

For me, Platinum has always taken ages to load. I timed it on several occasions at a consistent 1:55. X3 still installed on the same computer is way quicker, almost instant by comparison. It wasn't long before I learned to just go away and do something else for few minutes while it does whatever it does. It seemed a more reasonable solution than throwing the PC out of the window.

I wish I had that speed. More like a minute or even longer.

I get a splash screen in less than 3 seconds, with simple projects taking about the same.

Haven't yet tested with anything more taxing but the times reported above seem excessively high.

For me it's 6 seconds to get to the Cakewalk start screen.  And I have 488 plugins in the Cakewalk scanner.

You may want to check to see if your Anti-virus software is having an impact.

I have a pretty fast machine, but experienced similar problems.  The solution for me was to go into the settings on my anti-virus software (in this case, Kaspersky) and set up the 'exclusions' option. This allows you to prevent the AV software from scanning specific files/folders each time Cakewalk or Platinum starts or opens a project. I think most AV software provides this exclusion feature.  As well as your main Cakewalk program and project folders, you may need to exclude non-obvious folders such as c:\ProgramData\Cakewalk etc.

In my case setting Cakewalk folders to be excluded from the AV made a dramatic difference to load times.

    I hope this helps.

That is a very good possibility.  Some AV programs may differ in this regard.

I use Avira Pro, without any exclusions, and so far it has not had any impact on performance here.  When I watch Windows Task Manager as Cakewalk launches, I can see Avira briefly ramp up with a low CPU hit while the Cakewalk plugin scanner runs, then it goes back to rest.

I had no problem till 2018.05 BUILD 20
On my system with SDD drives use to take a couple of seconds to load.
Just timed it - it now takes just under 2 minutes  (1:54)

There were absolutely no changes to the application other than changing some Japanese resources. The update could have no impact to startup time and the cakewalk executable is in fact the same size as the prior build.
Check your VST scan options and ensure its set to automatic rather than manual or scan for failed plugins.

Even on my "slow" laptop it takes only 23 seconds to start CbB!
To achieve this I have set "Manual Scan" and both "Rescan Failed Plug-ins", "Rescan Existing Plug-ins" to OFF. Additionally I have DEactivated "File > Advanced > Show Start Screen", this saved most of the start-up time on my PCs and it is really a unnecessary function IMHO.

I get consistent Startup screen in about 7-9 seconds.

Starting a project with 25 audio trks, and 30+ plugins = 50 seconds. Not bad.

I have noticed that the plugins you have that can have an effect on how long it takes to load the project.

Since Manual Scan would indicate that Cakewalk not take any action with VSTs scan-wise it seems a bit counter-intuitive that that that setting would cause an increase program load time.

But regarding my issue - I just did a quick check and load times for either, Automatic or Manual (with no to scan for failed plugs) have one thing in common - they both are significantly longer than I what I was experiencing last week.
Only change on my system since running the previous version of CbB is that I did add a couple of plugins -
    • Chromaphone 2 VST3
    • Faturator by kiloHearts
    • Replika XT by NI and
    • Waves StudioRack
and maybe a Windows 10 update...
(but haven't had any issues with previous Win10 updates)

Edit: Just ran Sonar Platinum, last release, and it's slower in loading too so looks like something's up on my end.
So apologies for jumping to conclusions.

What about closing projects? Do they take ages to close?
