listen to new song?
heres my newly done tune called i just uploaded 'yay for sunny days', featuring my little sis on a dumb little vocal part, could anyone have a listen? also im not sure if its smooth jazz anymore or maybe something else, but it started out as pretty jazzy but got sort of unjazzy later on, but my tone is still jazzy imo. thanks for any tips or advice or whatever, good or bad, thanks for any ears! http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11671283&q=hi&newref=1

I think this is a remarkable piece in many ways, but it sounded a little overly midi - sort of 8 bit, if you know what I mean. While everything gelled together well, it had an almost mechanical feel. I think the guitar tone worked nicely, but you need find more life from the bass, drums, and especially the keys. Still, not a bad piece at all.

This is an ambitious piece with a lot going on, yet it manages to hang together pretty well. The bass is nice and funky and very present in the mix. The percussion could come up a bit, but other than that, I have nothing to add. Interesting.

smokin...... That bass is da bomb. I think what foxwolfen means is that it's like evrything is 100% quantized where most of the feel gets robbed. the song does have a unique happy vibe thing going on. Like it.

Love it. It absolutely screams “ I’m happy, try it, you’ll like it.” (or something like that). Mix is good, playing is real good and real tight. Kid’s voices always add some weird innocence and happiness to a track – works perfect here. Bass is really well put together. The arrangement is also really good – it’s difficult to take just a few chords and keep it interesting but you managed to do just that. This would be great underneath a simple video. Super job.

Like it. +1 Along with getting some life and depth from the other instruments. In this case, a little compression, with a small amount of "wet" dialed in might bring the bass and kick to life. Getting some reverb onto the snare might also help, but because if the fast pace, you will have to keep the tails short.

Oh, and along with "de-quantizing", you need to think about the velocities as well. A bit more randomized, and careful editing for dynamics will help bring this to life.

thanks beagle, old55, timidi, wicker1000, conripping, manny, janet and foxwolfen! foxwolfen i get what ur saying and im going to humanize everything (note placements, velocities etc) on next tune.. hey do you know if when u mixdown u need to add compression and limiting? thats what i did for this one, but hmmmm.. maybe bad idea.. thanks all
