The T-Racks CS comes with metering and Classic EQ for free.

A bit confusing though. Should the peaks be at -12db for K-12 metering or should the RMS level be at -12?

I really like the T-racks metering. The perceived loudness meter is a pretty good tool for leveling tracks. +1 for the Toneboosters ebu loudness plugin. Demo mode is plenty good enough for that one. I also have and like...Klanghelm VUMT http://klanghelm.com/VUMT.html, Hornet VU meter, http://www.hornetplugins....ugins/hornet-vu-meter/ .
And Sleepytime dsp Stereo channel, http://sleepytimedsp.com/software/str-bundle/.

Re: loudness meter 2014/01/31 20:49:31 (permalink)
I have been going on about K system, VU meters and the Klanghelm meters for years. Funny now how people are only just starting to twig. (slow!!)

You don't need any fancy loudness meters actually, a decent set of VU's will tell you very much the same thing.

Watch out for VU or loudness meters that take on the bar graph concept. OK for reading levels but the ballistics of that won't help you much.

The ballistics (how the meters dance to the music) is a very important quality to be able to read. AND I have tested a lot of them compared to my real VU's (which by the way still have the edge) and yes the Klanghelm meters are the closest to the real deal. However you have to tweak the rise and fall settings just slightly to get them a perfect match to the real VU's.

I was talking with Christian (klanghelm) the other day (email) and he mentioned VST 3 being released in the coming months because the uptake of the standard is moving ahead now. That's all a lot of work for a single developer. Great stuff!

Oh oh. I'm not sure I want to take credit. LOL. As others have pointed out the developer is a really nice guy.  But being nice is all well and good its the quality of his plugins that have to make one sit up and take notice. Its just great he is also a great guy.

Wonder why he told me that he would release them in the next few months.

When you extract the Klanghelm plugin downloads, there is just single dll file. If they were vst3 then the files would end in . vst3 not .dll
