a level of knowledge not widely shared amoung musicians

Computers are magic.

And most persons do not get:

16 bits      =             65,536   levels     Thousands   CDs
17 bits      =           131,072   levels
18 bits      =           262,144   levels
19 bits      =           524,288   levels
20 bits      =        1,048,576   levels      Millions
21 bits      =        2,097,152   levels
22 bits      =        4,194,304   levels
23 bits      =        8,388,608   levels
24 bits      =      16,777,216   levels     real good
25 bits      =      33,554,432   levels
26 bits      =      67,108,864   levels
27 bits      =    134,217,728   levels
28 bits      =    268,435,456   levels
29 bits      =    536,870,912   levels
30 bits      = 1,073,741,824   levels      Billions   (giga)
31 bits      = 2,147,483,648   levels
32 bits      = 4,294,967,296   levels      Computer processing
CDs:             16  bits    =       65 THOUSAND levels

Computers:   32  bits    =     4.2 BILLION levels

Big difference.     Difficult to comprehend.

But with 32bit floating point most of those "technically possible" levels will never, ever, ever, ever, ever be used, so it's even more difficult to comprehend. So difficult that it's not worth even trying to explain to anyone who doesn't already understand it.

Maybe next year.

Very quiet celebration on our side.....had a few margarita's (the drink ), set off some fireworks, and put the wittle one's to bed (including meself).

What time did you come home from all that Dubstep Clubbin'?

I wore myself out braving the element and wandering around an actual cliff at the Grand Canyon on Sunday.  I had a very nice dinner with some friends and watched videos for New Year's Eve.  I probably nodded-off around 1am.  Then, I drove home yesterday.  It was a fairly pleasant, stress-free drive, without a lot of traffic.

Grand Canyon!! I bet that would've been a great place to have fireworks.....

I certainly do appreciate any place that has "stress-free" driving and enjoy the peace of mind.......so, I totally understand this. I got a good taste of traffic when I was in Burbank last month.....what a zoo of obnoxious drivers (and this is just the city traffic)......
I was soooooo happy to be back in Florida.

You haven't pushed hard enough, yet.

I almost forgot.  I had a hot dog at Portillo's on the way home.  Yum.
