Spent 2 hours in the car on my way to work. It's perfectly understandable. A light rain caressed us this morning. Unfortunately, there are a few million people here who need to go back into their homes and STAY THERE FOREVER.
I started thinking that it would be nice to have a gnu division of law enforcement. I imagined seeing one of these guys who enjoys driving 20 mph below the speed limit for no reason pulled over by the Brain Police. "I'm sorry, sir, but since you're not going to use your brain, we're going to give it to someone else."
At that moment, I heard a siren and saw a colorful car with a "BP" logo in my rearview. I'd like to take this moment to apologize to whoever that was at what used to be a bus stop. Hopefully, that coffee wasn't too hot. On the positive side, you got your cardio in for the day. Anyway, once the bench was out of the way, the rest of the sidewalk was remarkably clear. I glanced in the mirror and saw flashing primary colors. I slipped back into traffic and whipped in front of a truck. Temporarily hidden from view, I slapped on a disguise. Yes, I mean that I held a coffee mug.
What? That's a lame disguise? Well, it worked. The left lane sped up and I watched them pass me. They faded into the gentle rain that blanketed the morning. Later, I realized that they may not have been after me. They may have run my plates, realized that I had nothing to offer them, and moved on to worthwhile potential donors.
Now I'm at the office, thinking about my upcoming meetings, and it occurs to me that this morning's excitement may not be the last I see of the Brain Police.
I now have a Cheap Trick song running through my head...
