Also I gotta say... as great as the guits are they are kind of just one part of the puzzle of awesomeness (the others being the insane drums and bass). Unfortunately the bass is buried as it oft is in productions like these.

Also I have no idea what the heck the growler dood is saying. Based on some of the words I've been able to pick out it seems standard fare death/extreme metal silliness... which is, er silly and extreme so maybe that should have a NSFW tag.

Here's a playlist of SRV live at the "El Mo" (a stage I stomped MANY times*)...

It's annoying because the whole CityTV special was hosted at one point in one vid but I think they mixed/remastered an official release of the show... which is another live performance I would love to/intend to own at some point.

It's not just 'cuz it's in my "home" city or nuthin'. The performances are freaking wonderful.

Stevie in his prime. Wish I had been there but I was still a little squeeble beeple at the time.

*a new owner took over the bar/building I guess about a decade or so ago and ripped that historic stage out and totally mangled that classic live venue. They kept it a live venue but completely destroyed the sound and the feel of the place. Quite sad.

HOT DAMN! I forgot how good that performance of Texas Flood was.

I will take any and all flak for lurvin' me some SRV (and have from some of my stauncher "punk" freinds). The man was a freaking guitar god.

And yes... I've always preferred the "trio/triumvirate" band model when it is musically possible.

Albert plays upside down like the guy I played with for about four years back in 1969-1972.

I could guit nerd out about how AK is obviously the prime influnce for a lot of the SRV licks and how AK's style of completely freaking manhandling his upsidoozy V managed to be duplicated by a teeny tiny little white boy (using ridiculously thick strings) and how FREAKING BLOODY INTERSTING IT IS!!!!

But instead I'll just say...

Mr. King is/was  the "Protopunk" king of the blues.
