Ken, have you tried the Kuassa amps? I downloaded the demo and they're pretty good as far as amp tone/character. It sounded even better after putting some Breverb on it.
(they're also on sale for $19 a piece until May 1)
 


I picked them all up.
 
The bass amp is pretty naiz.

I haven't bought a plugin in months.
I've got the BX BassDude, and heard it is nais. Still haven't gotten around to trying it.
Perhaps I should?
I'll get around to it sooner or later, even if by chance
