Not THAT many ways (IMO) to sit outside in the warm sunshine
Since I'm leaving the country in a few days, for a few days, I thought it was worth celebrating Norway's constitution day.
Cheers, peeps!

My brother the programmer works in a place that has mostly gone over to the dark side, so he got a Mac book for his personal use, and to work from home.
He's getting rid of his Windows stuff, one of which is a home-built computer he assembled just for music. It's only a few years old and has hardly been used at all.
So, this time next week I'll be the owner of a new/old music computer. He has a list of all the parts he used (which I haven't seen yet) but he assured me they were top-of-the-line when he bought them.
The only 'problem' is that he didn't install enough memory, only 2 gigs, but that's easily remedied.
He has to clean out his stuff first, then it's mine! All mine!!! Yahahahahaha!

Congrats Greg!!
That should serve you well for quite a few years. Get a couple of 8GB sticks of RAM and you're good to go.
My current PC is now 5 years old and never had any major or even minor issues....only my OS SSD is getting filled up and now I'm looking to upgrade.

Will you be using Cakewalk by Bandlab?

Well, I think he put XP on it, so no, unless I upgrade Windows. I should know more about it later this week. SONAR Home Studio 6 is my preferred weapon.

If you go with Win 7 or 10, you won't get bottlenecked with the 4GB limit with XP. The good thing is the current Cakewalk is free and with this new machine you have lots of options with how much RAM or version of Windows you want to use.

It's always nice to get new toys rooooight?

Yes, it is.
I have CbB on this computer, just saving my pennies for an interface for it.
An interface which works correctly. When I bought my Yamaha MX49, it has an audio interface in it and came with Cubase and the Yamaha/Steinberg ASIO driver, and all of that works well with SHS 6, X 3, CbB and Cubase. I just can't figure out how to get audio from a mic or line into the computer.
There Is no way to record from the keyboard without also recording the monitored signal. I should say I haven't discovered a way. Some day I'll look at the manual. And there are no inputs on the keyboard except for a mini jack.

That might be a problem...

I have an Alesis 7.1 keyboard which has some good synth sounds, but just use it as a midi controller (plenty of good VSTi's out there). My Focusrite 2i4 has all the midi, audio, and mic inputs/outputs I need. If you can find a decent (new or used) audio interface, you may not need to jump through so many hoops....just plug n play.
