  • Win 1709 Killed my Sonar

Win 1709 has killed my Sonar too - i get "mfc140u.dll missing, VCRUNTIME140.dll missing , CONCRT140.dll missing". I don't have a steinberg driver. I "updated" Windows to 1709 on 28th December, then tried to load Sonar only today after my holiday.
I tried to uninstall the update, but discovered it had deleted the old files (hah- Microsoft didn't tell me that when I "upgraded") - AND it doesn't recognize the Restore files that I used to make religiously so I can't do a hard drive image restore. Why do these people come up with these ideas? I can either re-install Sonar or use the system restore disc from the previous version of Win 10 - what would be the better option?

(I got the following reply from CakeAlexSHere)  .........

Your issue is completely different I would create a brand new thread as you risk hijacking the OP's thread.
Anyway these are missing Visual C runtime libraries, generally the first thing to do here is run Windows Update several times. Otherwise a Sonar reinstall might handle it, worst case scenario is to download the libraries from MS and install.

SO I Started a new post.   I tried running Windows update and it kept telling me I had the latest version installed.   So I tried running a new install of Sonar -   I get error message "unable to register DLL/OCX:RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3"..... help!!!

Hahaha!
Window 7 suffers far more from C++ libraries out of date because people don't bother fully keeping it fully up to date. This issue is far rarer under Windows 10. If I had a tenner every time I've seen this under Windows 7.

Regardless this is simply an issue with the programming libraries being out of date. One day windows 7 users will run out of support for these sort of issues.

I was referring to the forced updates. Either go back to Windows 7 with a stable working version of the Sonar of your choice, and do security-only updates. Or just keep it offline. Or, stay with Windows 10, but disable automatic updating. Or, again, just keep it offline. Your operating system should not break your software. If it does, do something about it. Take control of your computer.

^^ Please DO NOT use these installers. They are not from Microsoft's site and could be dodgy (Major Geeks). EDIT - In fact this is a heavily bast*rdised installer and NOT original MS. Avoid!

Please use the installers on Microsoft's website (this is all Microsoft software and the original source) these are linked to on my first post via the knowledge base article(as I said) and here is the direct link via MS website:

This is absolutely nothing to do with the OP's missing C++ libraries issue. Actually in this instance the OP needs to update, the problem is the opposite, his software is too old and not the operating system.

YA I'm not sure why Promidi is always posting these links to crap installers.
And myself I find those libraries will automatically update when needed by software.
Did he OP mention which version of Sonar he is using?
I cannot follow this one at all..
