YA I'm not sure why Promidi is always posting these links to crap installers.
And myself I find those libraries will automatically update when needed by software.
Did he OP mention which version of Sonar he is using?
I cannot follow this one at all..

Windows 1709 is a sub version number of Windows 10.

I've stayed on 1703 for almost 2 months now.  When I allowed updates once I was then faced with the perpetual "Installing..." problem where launching anything launched an installer.  No more updates for me.  1703 is very good with Sonar by the way.

1703 and 1709 are version numbers.  Windows 10 is the edition number.

Yeah I've been on 1703 for a while as I'm on Windows update for business path (Windows Pro), I'll let others do the "beta" testing and Microsoft will deploy later versions to me when they are ready :).

Some reason I misread this, anyway no he didn't but solution is in the second post anyway regardless.
But yeah now I'm curious.

Ya I'm aware of what 1709 is and not in a good way :)
Nothing but problems. I had zero issues all last year up until this update, Now I have crashes.
So far my W 8.1 DAW has not crashed. But now I'm having my Bios keeps telling me it has re set? I never changed it?? I think I failed building this one. Time for a better MoBo.
Say what you will my 2 W 7 laptops run perfectly.

Question, Could we perpetually keep rolling back to 1703 forever??

I downloaded the vc_redistx.x86.exe thing , uninstalled the old version and installed the new. Woo Hoo!  - sorted!!!

OK so try this which also gives a link to the Visual C++ libraries:

Thanks CakeAlex - your assistance much appreciated.

^ That's the 32 bit version
vc_redist.x64.exe is the 64 bit version.

Anyway glad it is working.

Go back to Windows 7. Stop this nonsense.

Hahaha!
Window 7 suffers far more from C++ libraries out of date because people don't bother fully keeping it fully up to date. This issue is far rarer under Windows 10. If I had a tenner every time I've seen this under Windows 7.

Regardless this is simply an issue with the programming libraries being out of date. One day windows 7 users will run out of support for these sort of issues.

I'm running on Win7 pro and only allowed 1 update after installing the OS and updates are permanently off.
SPLAT is perfect and has been from day 1.
Macrium Reflect images are made anytime I change something and I always have the 4 previous images.
That's called bullet proof.

It's bullet proof assuming you are no longer installing software of any kind, not patches, nor updates and you are disconnected from the internet completely forever. Otherwise your new software is going to get out of sync with the dependencies (DLL's) it needs eventually.

For the rest of us who want to run the latest software that need the latest programming libraries there is Windows 10 Pro on current branch for business... and yes have a backup strategy (I use Acronis TrueImage).

Never had a problem either.
