I'll chime in as well and say I'm very glad that Cakewalk and Sonar are being saved. Although I'm happy with my new tools I still feel and hope a for a better future for Sonar. I hope this will be a good place for the new development staff to look at the competition and take some of the better elements of other DAWs and bring them into Sonar in one for or another.

I'm sure they're working on an email blast. I would expect them to push notifications to SONAR, as well, and perhaps make use of the Discover tab on the Start Screen.

I'll need to keep a closer eye on that Discover tab. I'm afraid I've gotten used to zipping right past it.

Regarding staff view/notation: I use staff view heavily, and there is one thing that is a must for any such feature, whether an improved staff view or integration with another product: navigation and selection MUST allow for "infinite" scrolling and selecting in the vertical and horizontal planes. I tried Cubase, and was shocked to discover that I could only select notes in the bars showing in the current view. Unlike Sonar, once you get to the right edge, you stop. you cannot select notes or measures beyond that. You can bet I will be watching closely any discussions of notation, and advocating my head off about this. Sonar's staff view is primarily and editing tool. It works for musicians who read music and especially classical or film composers who do orchestration. If the new staff view is an attempt at integrating true notation with a DAW, they will be in for a lot of trouble. no one has been able to do this yet. Just fix the flaws in staff view (see other threads on this for details). Don't try to square the circle.

As a user of Cakewalk since 2.0, I'm another who's happy not to have to figure out how to migrate/throw away/relearn to use another product. 30 years of projects is a lot of stuff. Thanks for taking it on.
For myself, doesn't matter to me if you change the name, and charge for the next release. Sure, I paid for lifetime updates - but if you don't make money I'm back to figuring out what my next DAW is. I'd like to continue with the product until I die (figure 25 years) so make sure your market strategy is good for that long
Mix and match the products code, implement forward thinking features, your future user base will expect it. But please keep the current core of a studio capable DAW intact in some version of the future product.
Lastly, because some of us feel this way, I'll pay $200 for a all new whiz bang 'new and improved'. I'll pay $400 for a rock solid product with the feature set as it is now.
PS. I'll give an extra $100 for a VST version of the TTS1. Very utilitarian plugin, but still something unique to Sonar I have a use for. Currently crashes Sonar constantly. If Roland can charge $150 for a software Sound Canvas...just sayin'

As a long time user of Sonar I am very pleased to see some company sees the value in this product. I stopped with Sonar X3 Producer as the subscription model did not sit well with me. I have had not one problem with X3 migrating to windows 10 and look forward to see what's next from Cakewalk and BandLab. Cheers to all!

Very happy to hear about this.  Started with C-lab notator in the early 90's, and tried pretty much every midi and daw since that time including Creamware T-dat, ProTools, Emagic Logic Audio, Cubase, Live, Reason, Samplitude, Guitar Tracks, Sonar, Studio One, Mixcraft, Adobe Audition, Tracktion, Sawstudio, Fruity Loops, you name it I've tried it and wasted money on it, nothing compares to Sonar for me.  It's all I've used for the past few years and I was just really enjoying all the bug fixes as a lifetime updates SPLAT subscriber.  Thought it was headed in the right direction and was shocked when Gibson closed the doors on it.  Congrats Meng you have a really good Daw that I'm sure you will make better.

I am very glad to hear this news. It's like hearing the house you grew up in isn't going to be demolished after all, but saved and renovated.
Wonderful!
