I know that many (including myself) were beginning to believe that Sonar really was consigned to the scrapheap of DAW's, never to be updated again. Sonar truly is a great DAW and it would be a shame to see it die as it leaves user's computers as they are slowly forced to migrate to new programs, and new forums. I'm really pleased to hear that it has been picked up AGAIN, and I hope Bandlab can make a real go of it. It heartens me to know that Noel is still involved somehow with the transition, I would like to think he will keep the concerns of long-time Cakewalk users in the minds of the new owners, and the path of Sonar straight and true (whatever that may mean).
I did read Bandlab's FAQ's and was not buoyed by the answer that the Company 'Cakewalk' was not purchased and "there is no recourse for any previous owners of Cakewalk software", although I'm hoping that's just an out and they will realise there is a wealth of opportunity to keeping those MANY users at the forefront of the software going forward.
I've spent a bit of time at the Bandlab site and like where they're coming from, their ideas do seem very up to date and their site is very socially orientated. I do think some of their users will really benefit from programs like Sonar, Z3ta, Rapture and the like, and hope the wealth of knowledge available in this forum can be used to their advantage as well.
It seems Meng is very hands on, much like Noel was at Cakewalk, and that is very heartening. I wish him and Bandlab the very best and look forward to where Sonar is heading in the future.
