I am having trouble getting the sound from My Fantom XR to come through the monitors.  I have had it all hooked up and working before and I have all .INS and drivers.  Im thinking its in My MIDI Chord runs.  Like I said I had all of this working like a GEM before I moved and then my brain just locked up when I went to hook it all back up.  Im basically using the Fantom as a MIDI Interface, but when I assign Channels, Patches and sounds I am getting a hit on the track but no sounds.  Can some one tell me how my MIDI cables should be ran.  Really just need help with the MIDI THRU on the Fantom.  Thanks

To get the sound that the Fantom makes to come through your monitors, you need to connect audio cables from the Fantom to the line in of the sound card/audio interface.
Sound doesn't go through the MIDI cables, just data.

MIDI signal must go from Fantom to SONAR (to be recorded), then from SONAR to Fantom (to be played back using Fantoms sounds), and then from Fantoms audio out to SONAR to be recorded as audio.

The other option is to use soft synths.

Why not let the Fantom create its own audio sound, and run the audio output into the audio input on the interface or computer?

Or.... connect Fantom Midi OUT to midi in on the computer/interface...and then MIDI OUT on the interface to MIDI IN on the interface/computer.

This second way lets the midi data go to the Cakewalk software to be recorded and is sent back to the fantom to trigger it's internal synth.

(I'm assuming the fantom has internal hardware synth in it to play music)

Be sure the midi channels are all set properly. If they are not, the software and the fantom will not talk to each other properly. The result will be correct wiring but still no sound.

hope this helps.
