3 already seems like a lot when it's time to put on fresh strings. Though I'm starting to consider adding a (cheap) acoustic to my rig, just for fun. A nylon strings one would also be nice. Haven't played one in 20 years.

A classical acoustic is definitely something I would like to get.

Did you use to play nylon/classical regularly, Rain?  What type of music did you play on it?

Yeah, I studied classical guitar. Loved it wasn't doing bad but never felt like I'd become of virtuoso or anything, so after a couple of years I gave up on the relatively expensive lessons. Then a friend-ish borrowed the nylon and I never saw it again. Officially, it was stolen from him.

Anyway, nothing I could do would have brought it back, and I didn't need it anymore, so I never replaced it.

"From the very beginning when I used to hear those solos on those old records I used to say: now here is an instrument that is capable of spewing forth true obscenity, you know?  If ever there's an obscene noise to be made on an instrument, it's going to come out of a guitar... Let's be realistic about this, the guitar can be the single most blasphemous device on the face of the earth.  That's why I like it... The disgusting stink of a too-loud electric guitar: now that's my idea of a good time."

I wonder if Beck has a black Les Paul I could borrow?   What an outstanding collection.  I love 2 colors of Paul's the best, one be black and the other Ice Tea.

Yeah, I fell for that particular model last summer at Sam Ash in NY. Pretty much out of nowhere because I was actually shopping for a HSS strat, and I'd never been lucky w/ Les Paul's. Even the big expensive and vintage ones.

I tried that Black Epi because the sales guy insisted. It was quite a shock because I absolutely loved it. Then I looked up and saw footage of of a Zeppelin concert on one of the screens - Jimmy Page playing a black Les Paul...

Wife said - Birthday present. Who am I to argue w/ Jimmy Page and my wife?

I started out on a Rick when I was 14.  Got my first Paul, antique sunburst when I was 20, played it for 10 years.  Then, I switched to Strats, playing them exclusively for about 10 years.  Caught the blues bug, i guess.  Five years ago I picked up a LP Studio and it was like an old lost friend, I've been playing pretty much Gibson's since.  Last year on my 50th birthday I sold a black Epi LP with Gibson PU's and got an Epi Dot sunburst to celebrate the  birthday.  So now it is The LP Studio and the Epi Dot as my main 2 gits.  I loved the look of that Black LP and some day I will have another.

I believe it is the shorter scale that I like.  I have smaller hands and the shorter scale feels more natural to me.  Easier on old hands for string bends as well.

LOL I just remembered I used to play a very cheap black Les Paul copy

Welcome to the (very early) 1980s, and a damn fine handsome and dapper looking young Straummy...

Even then I had the good fashion sense to sport a pair of white socks in homage to the great McQ

Cool pic! Love the cable - I still have one of those somewhere around. :)

I started on a über cheap sunburst LP copy - I'm guessing that this very bad picture dates for early 1985, when I was 12.

I've worn the heck out of that Run to the Hills shirt. :P
